Mitsotakis explained that Greece has rescued tens of thousand of people who were at risk at sea, defending its borders as it has an obligation to do but also respecting fundamental human rights.

Subsidies will continue to cover all consumers and power connections, without income criteria, but from next month a three-tier system will be introduced, with higher subsidies for lower consumption levels and additional discounts to reward energy savings.

The two countries have collaborated on various bilateral and multilateral initiatives, including the joint declaration on the Strategic Partnership in 2020 and the creation of a 4.0-billion-euro fund for investments in the Greek economy.

Commenting on this development, Alternate Minister Theodore Skylakakis said that this performance is compatible with high economic growth rates this year, while advance collection of nex months' revenue is adding safety to an implemented fiscal policy.

The 1.8-billion-euro programme will target more than 100,000 beneficiaries with a series of initiatives to help them buy or rent a cheaper home.

According to Prime Minister, the high rates of growth create the fiscal space to support the economy and society at a difficult time, and Greece will present the greatest and fastest reduction of debt as a percengate of GDP.

The big difference from previous (normalized) markets is that the strong shipping freight rates in the last year or so have not been due to structural demand, but rather on shifting trading patterns that have caused global supply chain disruptions, which artificially pushed freight rates higher. Bids from investment banks to act as advisors to the HFSF in the sale of bank shares will be made within days. Before the end of the year, the tender to define the disinvestment strategy will be completed.

European Commission spokesperson for external affairs Peter Stano said that differences need to be settled peacefully, in full respect of international law and of countries' vital and legitimate interests, while threats and aggressive rhetoric are unacceptable and need to stop.
