Prime Minister added that Greece wants to become a net exporter of green electricity to Central Europe. "That means we need more interconnections towards Central Europe. But we can also be the intermediary country that will connect Europe to North Africa".

Mitsotakis explained that Greece has rescued tens of thousand of people who were at risk at sea, defending its borders as it has an obligation to do but also respecting fundamental human rights.

According to Prime Minister, the high rates of growth create the fiscal space to support the economy and society at a difficult time, and Greece will present the greatest and fastest reduction of debt as a percengate of GDP.

Government sources said that the prime minister and his economic staff want to have an, as much as possible, clear picture of the potential of the Greek economy as well as of the international developments in terms of energy cost and inflation. 

This program provides a 150-euro virtual coupon which is then used at hotels and accommodations nationwide. The coupon's value is 200 euros for people with special needs who are more than 67% physically challenged.

The PM said the government's concern was prosperity of each citizen, but warned that "there is a lot to be done in the next 12 months and in another 4 years," referring to the elections in 2023 and a second term.

"The prime minister’s visit provides an opportunity to affirm our strong bilateral partnership and to celebrate 201 years of Greek independence," a statement said. 

Prime Minister noted that the problem of skyrocketing energy prices was imported and therefore demanded a joint European response but pledged that the government will continue to support energy consumers regardless, through a subsidy scheme that will continue in May as well.

The prime minister noted that 230 billion euros in unallocated loans were available from the recovery fund and these could be used, on an EU level, to deal with the energy crisis.

HELPE's 204 MW photovoltaic park in Kozani, is the largest Renewable Energy Sources (RES) unit in the Southeast Mediterranean region and one of the largest in Europe.
