Piraeus Bank was considered by many to be the weak link in the country's financial system, but the bank has managed to implement a plan that has gained the confidence of investors. In 2018, it reduced bad loans by a record amount, exceeding its five billion euro target, cut its reliance on emergency ELA funding, boost deposits by 10 percent and lowered operating costs by 7 percent.  

Officials at the bank tell Business Daily that the target is to allow workers to move to FPS on a purely voluntary basis as they take into account growth prospects offered by the new company and the benefits on hand.

The Terminal comprises a floating LNG storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and a 28 km pipeline system. The LNG storage capacity of the FSRU will be up to 170,000 cubic metres and the maximum daily regasification capacity 22.7 million c.m.

In 2020, investors will judge the ability of banks to implement ambitious business plans that have been presented and whether they are enough to pave the way for a return to normal conditions for lenders. Twelve months ago, banks were under enormous pressure from many who doubted whether they will manage to get by without large share capital increases.

The average interest rate on consumer loans with a defined maturity at a floating rate increased by 40 basis points to 10.69%. The average interest rate on housing loans at a floating rate decreased by 7 basis points to 2.84%.

Although the American online market in food and drinks is still nascent, products classified as 'specialty foods' have seen a 24 pct increase in online sales in 2018, expected to double by 2022.

Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias and the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Openness Kostas Fragogiannis, Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of Education Niki Kerameus and government spokesman Stelios Petsas.

The new year could be surprising enough and would bring about more profound changes for the industry, while the primary pre-occupation in the industry remains on only the tonnage supply and demand picture.

The prospects of Greece's wind energy market at the start of 2020 are "much more" promising than they were in 2019, a record year for new wind park installations, says Alexandros Lagakos, Chief Operating Officer of Blue Grid Gas & Power and vice president of think tank Greek Energy Forum.

The five-year term of Greece' current President Prokopios Pavlopoulos, elected in February 2015, expires in 2020 and parliament must elect a new president by the end of 2019.
