According to the Ministry of Finance, a clear and safe picture of how the pandemic has affected GDP will exist in September with the weight falling on tourism, where in the third quarter of the year the sector does 60 percent of its annual business.

Τhe average borrowing cost for businesses in the eurozone was close to 1.51 percent while the corresponding cost for Greek companies is 2.95 percent.

Finance Minister Christos Staikouras stressed that the results show that the international investment community has confidence in the Greek economy.

Although bank officials are currently avoiding making any negative public comments, there are concerns on this issue, sources say.

In 1980, Greece's GDP was $56.8 billion compared to Turkey's $68.79 billion, or 83 percent  of the neighboring country's gross domestic product. Today the Greek GDP reaches 218 billion dollars and that of Turkey 771 billion dollars – Greece’s domestic GDP corresponds to only 28 percent of Turkey's GDP.

Based on market participants, after the August data, the volume of new ship orders during 2020, has fallen to the lowest level in the last 20 years. Few shipowners are willing to bet on rising market demand, whether e.g. it is for oil or for raw materials, in the next few years, in order to make such a significant investment.

The first type of measures includes extensions to payments of public debts, a mixed system of extending the duration of rent cuts, and extension of other measures.

The disappointing course of bookings during the summer and the even worse picture from September onwards, have put a tombstone on any possible market recovery from autumn onwards.

The plan of the Ministry of Digital Government includes completing the upgrade of the existing implementation of the Diavgeia program with the main aim of expanding its functionality, enhancing its transparency, usability, information and dissemination of information.

The consortium, which has managed KEL Psyttalia for many years, is reportedly preparing to appeal to the Council of State after the decision by EYDAP not to exclude two competing bids.
