From December 1, 2022, the new label for the "household basket" products will be on the shelves of supermarkets in order to facilitate consumers in their shopping. This is provided for by the decision of the Ministry of Development and Investments published in the Government Gazette, amending a relevant decision on the "household basket".
The decision includes, in addition to arranging the special mark and ensuring the adequacy of the products in the basket, an amendment-clarification to the list of 51 product categories that concerns "baby formula" or "infant milk".
Supermarkets must ensure that the products declared in the list of consumer products ("household basket") sent to the development and investments ministry are in their stores in sufficient quantities and made easily available to the public.
Consumers have embraced the measure of the "household basket", a survey conducted by the Research Institute of Retail Consumer Goods (IELKA) said According to the survey, four out of 10 consumers have bought products from the "household basket" in its first week of operation. The survey was carried out in the week from November 8 to November 11, 2022 in a sample of 1,000 consumers.
More specifically, in the first 10 days of the operation of this initiative, 39% of the public said that they bought a product from the basket at least once.
A percentage of 15% have made 1 visit, 11% of the people have made 2 visits , 7% have made 3 visits, while the remaining 6% have made 4 visits or more . The survey data shows that although the majority of the public has not purchased a product from the "household basket", a fairly large percentage has at least tentatively approached the initiative in the first 7-10 days that it is implemented. So it is expected that these percentages will increase in the future.
