The turnover of all companies for the month of October climbed above levels seen before the pandemic, as shown by data released today by statistics office ELSTAT. For one more month, the reins were taken on by the accommodation and catering sectors, which recorded an impressive increase of more than 82% compared to year ago levels.
According to the data of the statistical service for all enterprises of the economy with the obligation to keeping books with monthly figures, as opposed to quarterly data, turnover in October 2021 amounted to 24.8 billion euros, an increase of 28.5% compared to October 2020, which had amounted to 19.3 billion euros.
The largest increase in turnover in October 2021 compared to October 2020 was presented by the companies in accommodation and catering services by 82.2%. The smallest increase in turnover in October 2021 compared to October 2020 was presented by the companies in the field of water supply, wastewater treatment and waste management, by 2.9%, while the largest decrease was recorded by the companies in the field of mines and quarries by 11.7%.
For the companies whose operations were suspended in March 2020, on which data are available on a monthly basis, turnover in October 2021 amounted to 1.8 billion euros, an increase of 27.6% compared with October 2020, which had amounted to 1.4 billion euros.
The largest increase in turnover in October 2021 compared to October 2020 was presented by companies in the production of film, video and television programs, recordings and music publications by 364.6%. The smallest increase in turnover was presented by the companies in the gambling and betting sector, by 7.5%.
