Asylum seekers will have bank account, taxpayer ID and social security number

Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi announced on Sunday structural changes in the access way of the asylum seekers to the social state after the conclusion of the registration stage. The three necessary numbers will be: bank account, taxpayer ID and temporary social security number.

"The policy we are following is strict with epicentre the people. In this direction we are constantly improving the living conditions for the asylum seekers and promote the smooth integration of the those entitled to international protection to the Greek economy and society. We have assumed bold initiatives for the support of the pre-integration stage to pave the way of the smooth social integration of the recognised refugees.

At this moment, we have 82,000 recognised refugees in Greece and we are proceeding with structural changes in the way the refugee will have access to the social state. Now, after the registration stage the refugees will be provided with a bank account, a taxpayer ID and a temporary social security number.
