Greece's inflation showed a marginal slowdown to 2.5% in February from 2.7% in January, according to Hellenic Statistical Authority ELSTAT.
In February 2024, it stood at 2.9%.
On a year-to-year basis, increases were recorded, among others, in: clothing-footwear (6.4%), housing rents (9.9%), electricity (6.7%), natural gas (41.1%), new cars (2.4%), passenger transport by plane (10.8%), telephone services (2%), holiday packages (8.5%), restaurants-pastry shops-cafes-canteens (5%), hotels-motels-inns (17.5%), health insurance premiums (7%), vehicle insurance premiums (5.6%), coffee-cocoa-tea (4.7%), mineral water-soft drinks-fruit juices (5.3%), beef (5.7%) and pork (2.8%). On the other hand, the price of olive oil continued to fall (16.9%).
On a monthly basis, price increasea were recorded in: pasta (7.4%), beef (1.2%), whole fresh milk (3.9%), yogurt (2.6%), coffee (3.7%), housing rents (0.8%), municipal taxes (1.6%), electricity (0.4%) and natural gas (5.5%). The price of olive oil continued to decrease (6.7%).
