Everyday life and its problems dominated the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, according to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Mitsotakis stressed that there is an ongoing battle to contain prices, adding that both competition and state controls are working in this direction.
He acknowledged that prices have increased over the last years, but "we are resisting and believe that things will gradually get better. If we remove the disproportionately large effect of olive oil on the food price index in our country, the food price index is now moving downwards."
Despite the obstacles, Greece is picking up speed and the government is implementing a four-year plan with many daily steps and all the steps that are taken will ultimately lead to big leaps, to big changes for the benefit of the citizens, he said.
The central goal, but also the best answer to high prices, as he said, is the permanent increases in income, he noted, emphasizing that details will be provided at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) to be held in a few days.
He also spoke about his visit to Thessaloniki and the range of interventions that are implemented at many different levels. He added that similar presentations will be made in all regions and referred to the erga.gov.gr platform.
As the Greek premier stated another important intervention for the daily life of the citizens is the circulation of the new modern buses in Eastern and soon in Western Attica, underlining that the support of public transport is a central priority.
