The Migration and Asylum Ministry was established at the beginning of an important crisis in 2020, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Tuesday during his visit to the ministry, adding that the country is implementing a strict but fair migration policy.
"The government's performance so far has been positive," Mitsotakis emphasised, noting among other things that "we are working to increase the absorption of European resources in order to have a steady flow of funding," with Greece claiming a larger percentage.
He also underlined that the exemplary work done by Greece is acknowledged and noted that the ministry is also facing the new challenges of legal migration.
Referring to unaccompanied minors, Mitsotakis emphasised that remarkable work has been done for suffering souls arriving from traumatised areas and that it is a mission that the government has carried out and has received credit for.
"We have a lot of work to do in the ministry, but in migration, things are on track," added the prime minister.
